Sculpture and Timber Structures
These timber structures are built from green oak. They are researched and designed in a collaborative way; materials and jointing systems are often innovative and are subsequently approved by qualified engineers. The building techniques that we use meet with local planning requirements where required.
The designs are based on traditional methods of timber framing: the joints are cut by hand and pinned using dry, hardwood pegs.
The structures are made to suit both practical needs and to fit in with their surroundings. Alex studied sculpture and Fine Art at Glasgow and Belfast and has been involved in large-scale contsruction and design for more than twenty years. He has made sculptures for many international events and was chosen to represent Britain at the Lisbon Expo in 1998.
