The identity of
Transfigured depends as much on the company's ability to create
a strong sense of identity through design as much as through its
ability to innovate.
Transfigured
have made costume and set designs for a number of leading theatre
companies in Scotland including NVA, Theatre Cryptic
and Theatre Babel; the company also works with public and
private sector companies on projects such as exhibition design and
graphic design towards corporate identity.
Design starts
of the roots of an idea and grows through discussion and negotiation.
Design products for Transfigured arise from a philosophy of energy
and integrity. Design work is approached in a collaborative spirit
and brings with it the company's own distinctive visual awareness.
The strength
to stand is failing me and so I fall, slowly, releasing each muscle
from my control. The ground meets me without a word and the breath
is knocked from me; my legs begin to run on their own, faster and
faster, flying over the earth without effort, moving across hundreds
of miles. My back arches and I bite into my tongue; blood and spit
flow across my cheek and around my head on the pavement. Muscles
surrender to the dance, urine pours under the bridge of my back,
flowing towards the sea. Sounds enter my head through my ears and
reverberate like bells, making no sense; colours merge together
in my mind's eye, their brightness like a door at the end of a dark
tunnel. The life of my soul twists all of my being into a coil,
concentrating the energy of I am and fires it as a missile out through
the door of consciousness.
